  • Manticore equipped with Camo Netting, Heavy Bolter, 4x Storm Eagle Rocket
 The Deployment:
Imperial Guard deployed as close as possible to the table edge. Flesh Hounds did scout moves. Bloodletters are in reserves.

 Khorne Daemonkin Turn 1:
Bikes, Flesh Hounds and Rhino moved 12, then ran or tubo-boosted.

 Imperial Guard Turn 1:
Veterans disembark and everybody starts shooting, killing a couple of Flesh Hounds and immobilizing the Rhino.

 Khorne Daemonkin Turn 2:
Again Flesh Hounds and bikes move 12" and get in assault range. Space Marines in the Rhino fail their pinning test. One squad of dogs took out one of the tanks, the other charged the Guardsmen bloob. The Chaos Lord and his squad of bikes make it into combat with the bloob, but the other squad of bikes fail the charge leaving them out in the open. My adversary had 4+ re-rollable save from the majority of the attacks and a 5+ feel no pain and the squad is fearless so not that many Guardsmen died. I also realized that I forgot my reserves.

 Imperial Guard Turn 2:
Pask, one of the Leman Russes and Manticore kill a couple of bikes. Lascannons wreck the Rhino. One of the tanks gets a direct hit on the dogs killing a lot of them. Veterans also kill some Flesh Hounds and assault the last remaining model, winning the combat. In the bloob combat some more Guardsmen die and some Flesh Hounds get wounded. At this point my Warlord had S10 AP2 from the artefact.

 Khorne Daemonkin Turn 3:
I summoned a squad of Bloodletters and my reserves came to battle. Bikes shot the Veterans and assaulted them, slaughtering every last one of them. A few more Guardsmen die and the Ministorum Priest blocks all the attacks from my Warlord.

 Imperial Guard Turn 3:
Chimera kills one of the bikes. The other tanks shoot the Chaos Space Marines, most of them failed miserably. Lascannons also shoot at the Marines. Since I was going to get out of combat with my lord and I had so many units, my opponent called it.

In conclusion, I had fun, my opponent probably not as much as me. Gorepack is a good, fast formation, but I hate that it lacks AP. I was stuck in combat for 3 turns because of this, a squad of Bloodcrushers would have finished them much faster.

Tyranids Turn 1:
Everybody moved up and ran in the shooting phase.

Khorne Daemonkin Turn 1:
Almost all the models moved closer to the center of the board except the Nurglings and the Culexus. Marines killed some Hormagaunts that were surrounding the Hive Tyrant. Flesh Hounds and Bloodcrushers almost took out an entire bloob of Hormagauns leaving only 2 models.

Tyranids Turn 2:
Tyraninds took control of the center of the board. Carnifex and Hive Tyrant did a couple of wounds to the Daemon Prince. Hormagaunts failed the charge on the Daemon Prince. The Swarmlord and Tyrant Guard assaulted the Bloodcrushers killing 2 of them and loosing one of the guards.

Khorne Daemonkin Turn 2:
"Forward into battle!" Chaos Space Marines shot the Hormagaunts. Skarbrand roared to the Tyranid Warriors and killed a couple of gaunts. Bloodletters failed the assault on the Hive Guard. Flesh Hound assaulted the Swarmlord and managed to get a couple of wounds on him but lost 3 dogs. Skarbrand failed his charge on the warriors. Daemon Prince assaulted the Tyranid Warriors instant killing them with +1 S from Goredrinker and furious charge. Possessed assaulted the remaining Hormagaunts and finished them off.

Tyranids Turn 3:
Carnifex and Hive Tyrant shot to death the Daemon Prince. Swarm Lord and the Hive Guard danced in the corpses of the Flesh Hounds.

Khorne Daemonkin Turn 3:
Skarbrand decapitated the Carnifex and the Bloodletters slayed the Hive Tyrant. The other squad of Bloodletters assaulted the Swarm Lord but they died like flies. Marines joined the fight with the Swarm Lord.

Tyranids Turn 4:
Swarm Lord and his crew manage to kill a couple of marines.

Khorne Daemonkin Turn 4:
Skarbrand joins the fight and kills every last Tyranid on the board.

It was a nice game, a lot of carnage.

Wrecked vehicle terrain

I created and painted another piece of terrain. I found a buggy cage that I glued on top of some polystyrene that I modeled as the car. I covered most of the buggy with PVA glue and sprinkled it with sand and small rocks.

I spayed everything with primer and painted it black. The pieces of the buggy that were still visible I painted them with Ferrari red. I made a mixture of gold and bronze and washed some parts of the black. To the mixture mentioned above I added brown and layered on the lover parts of the buggy in order to obtain a rust effect. I washed almost the whole model with agrax earthshade. After that I dry brushed the model with silver.

Converted Bloodthirster

As a Christmas present I received a Balrog that I converted into a Bloodthirster.
I changed the original whip, I replaced the left hand, I added shoulder pads from a Daemon Prince, a body armor from a Bloodthirster and the leg pieces are from a Maulerfiends magma cutters.
I bought a grey primer and I sprayed the whole model with it.
I started to paint the body with mat black then another coat of glossy black.
Next I applied 2 coats of Ferrari red.
I covered all the cracks in the body and bases of the flames around the model with glowing red.
I added yellow and white to the flames and I started to add gold to the armor.
At this point I also started to fix the black of the skin.
The only thing left were the weapons on which I used metallic and bronze paint.

Warhammer 40K scenery - Waste tower and crater

I got 2 more pieces of terrain done. I made  a crater and a water tower from polystyrene. I got the idea of a water tower from a photo I saw and I got some ideas from The Terrain Tutor ( TheTerrainTutor ).

For the crater I picked in the middle with a screwdriver and cut the polystyrene around the hole. I used PVA glue to stick some sand and the pieces of Landraider I cut into the one I have (Tower of Skulls project coming soon).
For the water tower I used a Christmas globe that I bought. I made some holes so that the straws can hold the polystyrene orb in place. With some toothpicks and universal glue I fixed the platforms around the sphere.
Then I primed everything with black and white.

I dry brushed the crater and I covered the whole orb with grey. I used metal color to make the water tower a little shiny. After that I used the crazy orange from Revel  to cover the cracks in the polystyrene.

Tyranid Eggs Terrain

I got another piece of terrain done. I found in the flea market a Mega Bloks Dragons egg and transformed it into a Tyranid egg.
I removed the matte foil and cut the shield in the front with a hot cutter. I glued the egg to a cardboard along with some air-soft balls. I bought some paper balls from the hobby store and the larger eggs are ping-pong balls.
I poured PVA glue over everything then super glue to get the nice irregular shapes.
After all the glue dried I sprayed the base with black paint.
I did a heavy dry brush of  a mixture of brown and yellow, then dry brush with pink and another dry brush with white. Some of the eggs I washed with blue.
